Meet the Editor – Aaron Schrey, Ph.D.

Savannah, GA
Epigenetics, Molecular Ecology

Dr. Schrey earned his B.S. in Biology from the University of Evansville in Indiana. He went on to receive both his MS and PhD in Zoology from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Schrey completed two post-doctoral fellowships, one in conservation genetics and the other in ecological epigenetics, at the University of South Florida. He now serves as an associate professor in the biology department at Georgia Southern University’s Savannah-based Armstrong Campus.

Dr. Schrey is a widely published author on both genetics and epigenetics. He currently runs a research lab on the Armstrong Campus devoted to ecological epigenetics, molecular ecology, and population and conservation genetics. The lab uses molecular techniques including next-generation sequencing, microsatellites, and DNA sequences. Dr. Schrey met Dr. Calkins, founder and editor in chief of Global Library of Scientific Images, through the research lab. Dr. Schrey was impressed with the ability to publish small projects on GLSI and the value of these images to the research community.

When not in the lab or classroom, Dr. Schrey enjoys reading, as well as hiking with his wife.
