Sinus bradycardia and junctional escape complexes

Image 1 of 2 in Series "Sinus bradycardia and junctional escape complexes"

Description

Figure A: The sinus rate slows after the third complex. A junctional escape complex follows the pause and is superimposed with a late P wave. The next complex is a sinus beat which is again followed by slowing of the sinus rate and another junctional escape complex.

Sinus bradycardia and junctional escape complexes

by: Kathryn Lichtenfels, BSN RN

Figure B: Sinus bradycardia is present. The sinus rate slows after the second complex. The third complex is a junctional escape complex which is superimposed with a P wave. Sinus bradycardia at a rate of approximately 45/min resumes after the junctional escape complex. In both panels, “N” is the symbol used by the monitoring system to designate normal sinus complexes.
