Atrial Sensing and Pacing

Description

The underlying rhythm is normal sinus rhythm with a rate of approximately 100/min. The second and 13th complexes are atrial paced complexes. Note the presence of a longer P-P interval and a stimulus artifact preceding the atrial paced complexes. The programmed lower rate limit for the pacemaker appears to be 70/min. The pacemaker senses P waves that occur at a higher rate, which inhibit pacing. When the sinus rate decreases to less than the lower programmed rate limit, atrial pacing occurs to maintain a minimum rate of 70/min. An additional finding on this ECG is left atrial abnormality.
