Myocardium and Endocardium in Rat Heart (H&E; 20x)

Description

The endocardium is the innermost layer of the heart and is shown at the red arrow. The myocardium is cardiac muscle (shown by the yellow arrow), lying between the endocardium and the epicardium, which is the outermost layer of the heart. The green arrows point to intercalated discs, and striations are present throughout the myocardium, which verify that this is cardiac muscle.
