Bedside diagnosis of scrub typhus

Description

A 26 year old male presented with fever for 5 days and shortness of breath of two days' duration. On evaluation, he was found to have thrombocytopenia with acute kidney injury. General physical examination revealed an eschar on the right thigh. A bedside diagnosis of Scrub typhus rickettsiosis was suspected and was confirmed with a positive IgM ELISA result.
